Literature Text

I'll dream of you tonight,
That I am sure.
You may be a thousand miles away,
But your face will be behind my eyes.

Somewhere on that plain,
We will meet for the first time.
I will whisper to you,
And take you in my arms,
And there you will stay.

I'll dream a life for us to live,
A life free of who I am.
You'll understand all the changes,
Because you'll be the one to understand me.

I cannot guarantee I won't break your heart,
Or that I'll never make you cry.
I can't promise you that I'll never lie,
But I can swear to the world and God
That I'll never hurt you just to do so.

Don't resent me for these words,
I just want to be honest.
I just want you to know the truth
Before we dance above the stars.

I may not be there with you,
In the land of the dying sun,
But you're here with me,
Under this blanket of ice,
And that's all I need.
God-awful poetry.

This really speaks to a situation I feel I have been facing for a long time. I love it. :)
